Chief of Department - Desmond Fulton

Appointed Chief of the Denver Fire Department on October 12, 2020, Chief Desmond Fulton serves as the department’s executive leader. He is responsible for setting strategic directions, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring the effectiveness of all fire, rescue, and emergency services citywide. The Chief plans, directs, and supervises the activities of the department through his Command Staff in accordance with established policies and procedures. Chief Fulton maintains strong working relationships with all local government departments and carries out additional duties as assigned by the Mayor, the Executive Director of Safety, and the City Council. The Chief also represents Denver Fire within local and regional Fire Chiefs’ Associations, collaborating on best practices and advancing public safety initiatives. Through this leadership, Chief Fulton supports the well‑being of department members and ensures Denver remains prepared for evolving community needs.
