The Denver Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Chief—who also serves as the Fire Marshal—leads the division responsible for reducing fire risk, enforcing safety standards, and protecting lives and property throughout the city. The Fire Prevention Chief oversees several specialized programs, including High‑Rise and Institutional inspections, Marijuana and HazMat regulatory enforcement, the Conveyance Program, all Inspections and Permits, all Temporary and Permanent Certificates of Occupancy, and actively participates in all construction and development phases across the city from submittals, LDR, SDP and final approvals. This role also manages the Fire Safety Licensing program, ensuring that contractors and fire‑safety professionals meet required qualifications. As Fire Marshal, he provides authority, expertise, and oversight for code interpretation and enforcement. Through strong leadership and community engagement, he helps ensure Denver’s buildings, businesses, and public spaces remain safe, compliant, and resilient.
