Request for Volunteers to assist w/ DFD Career Exploration Camp Program.

This is a request for volunteers to assist with the 2017 DFD Career Exploration Camp program.

The DFD Career Exploration Camp is designed to help kids and young adults learn, experience, and recognize what a career as a Denver Firefighter could be for them in the future. Campers will participate hands-on with emergency equipment skills while performing simulated fire and rescue situations.  It is our mission for instructors to instill participants with aspects of team building and leadership skills, along with valuable life lessons such as empowerment and self-confidence.  Our hope is to inspire these participants to consider working as a Denver Firefighter after their high school and college careers.

The Career Exploration Camp has been expanded this year, and will consist of nine eight-hour days. Camp will begin each morning for the participants at 9 a.m. at the Rocky Mountain Fire Academy.  The day will end around 4 p.m. at the same location.  It is anticipated volunteers will be needed from 0830 until 1600 hours on each day of camp.

There will be two camps:

July 17 – 21, 2016 (female participants)

July 25 – 28, 2016 (Co-ed participants)

Volunteers do NOT need to commit to every day of the camp, only to the days that they are available to assist. Please consider volunteering for as many days as possible to allow for continuity in our instruction.

Members in Support Services, please check with your Division Chief regarding if Admin Leave will be granted for your participation.
